This issue of all known alternate takes from the acoustic HMV G&S recordings is a co-production of Chris Webster's Sounds on CD and J. C. Lockwood 78s2CD. The production, including research and program notes, is by Chris Webster; the transfers are by Jim Lockwood. The album cover is by Matt Bland.
This was the first complete recording made under D'Oyly Carte supervision. It included a number of famous voices of the era, such as George Baker, Peter Dawson, Violet Essex, and Edna Thornton.
